Welcome to this template guide. this should tell you all you need to get started with this Financial tracker.
Initial Set Up
Go to Finance with Notion .This where you can view the complete history of your entries year by year, month by month.
1) Select your Currency.
- This template is set up in Dollars. To format number boxes to a different currency simply click on the column headings in the 'System View' of each database in the Finance with Notion and click
format number to choose a different currency.
- Where a number column has
format number as an option use this - or rest cursor over the entry numbers in the boxes to bring up a pop-up labeled '123': when you click on that you can alter the currency
- There seems to be a little bug sometimes reformatting the Rollups within the Balance Database: if this is the case try opening up a page entry and changing the property format in there. Other users have found this to work.
2) Link to your related Project Database
If you own one of my wider Life OS Template and you want to link your income lines to your wider project database turn the column named 'Relate To Project Database Here' into a relation and select 'Projects'.
3) Return to the 💸 Main Dashboard View...
- If you want to add the countdown clock for the financial year (currently just an image), go to indify.co log in / set up a free account.
- Select the countdown clock and set it up for the financial year. You can embed it by pasting the copied link into the page and selecting embed.

4) Create any Regular Income Items
- Create any regular Income items you will want to be able to generate and drop into the system each month (such as a salary, or perhaps a variable regular income that you will just have to add the amount to such as a Google AdSense Payment). You can do this using the database view under the toggle called '🖋️ Create New Monthly Income Items'.
- Add them to the Template button below called '+ 🔄 : Generate Regular Monthly Income Items' by clicking on the configure button and dragging them into the template. Leave an empty text line above them so when generated you don't get sent to the top item's page.
5) Create your Fixed Expenses
- Create any fixed expense items you will want to be able to regularly generate and drop into the system each month. You can do this using the database view under the toggle called ' Create New Monthly Expenditure Items' and selecting Fixed in the Expense Type. You don't need to fill in the Set Budget column as this is done automatically.
- Add them to the Template button below called '+ 🔄 : Generate Fixed Monthly Expenditure Items' by clicking on the configure button and dragging them into the template. Leave an empty text line above them so when generated you don't get sent to the top item's page.
6) Create your Regular Variable Expenses.
